Kendall County creates EDCKendall County establishes Economic Development Corporation The Kendall County Economic Development Corporation, after a year of planning, is now a reality with the election of the new 13-member board of directors. County Commissioners appointed Phillip Bell to head a task force to help develop concepts for the EDC. 'To eliminate duplication, we have merged four separate entities: the City of Boerne, Kendall County, the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce and the Comfort Chamber of Commerce,' said Bell. Initially $150,000 was pledged by the four partners as 'seed money' with additional funds coming from potential investors. For those pledging support, there will be three levels: Gold $10,000, or more; Silver, $5,000-$9,999; and Bronze, $1,000-$4,999. County Commissioners have appointed Phillip Bell and Paul Urban to represent Kendall County. The board of directors has hired Dan Rogers as CEO to emplement policy set by the board. The new CEO will office in the GVTC building on south Main Street. According to Ron Warden, newly-elect chairman of the EDC, the benefits are two-ford: 'Existing businesses will eventually have a resource they can go to if they want to grow their business. The second is that all the people in the community will benefit. The tax base will be supported by more commercial and business involvement than by the Boerne and Kendall County residents. Everybody benefits because economically it will be more balanced.' Bell said 'Kendall County is one of the fastest growing areas in Texas. Businesses are looking to move here so we want to encourage the kind of business that compliments our valued Hill Country lifestyle and support our current businesses.' A web site is now available to provide information about the EDC and how to become a member. Please visit www.kendallcountyedc.org
